The Doctor

Dr. Mark R. D'Amato hails from southwestern Michigan. He did his undergraduate study at Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan and then received his bachelors and doctorate degrees from the National College of Chiropractic Medicine in Lombard Illinois.

Dr. Mark's father, Dr. Benedict R. D'Amato is also a chiropractic physician (retired) who practiced in Michigan for over 40 years and served on the state board of chiropractic examiners and as president of the Michigan Chiropractic Association.

Mark received his doctorate of Chiropractic degree in 1983 and immediately moved he and his wife back to her home state of Florida. After successfully passing his Florida State Boards and practicing a short time in Miami and Sanford moved to Sarasota where he opened the Siesta Key Chiropractic Clinic. Later he started and directed the Island Medical Center and the Siesta Key Physiotherapy facilities. He believed that the different disciplines of health care could and should practice cooperatively so as to function in the best interest of the patient. In about 2003 Dr. D'Amato moved his practice to its current location on South Tamiami Trail.

As an adolescent, Dr. D's hobbies were predominently sporting activities. Growing up in the rural/agricultural area Dr. D'Amato was surrounded by and always involved with animals. When the opportunity to use his education to treat animal athletes arose he found a way to again be associated with his childhood passions. A post graduate degree offered by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association allowed him to train again in a mulitdisciplinary fashion with veterinarians. Working in association with the primary care physicians of animals, veterinarians, Dr. D'Amato became able to offer his specialty of chiropractic to the veterinary profession. He now serves on the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association's board of examiners.
